An incredibly strong visual merchandising, sales, and management background has created what Sharon considers the "perfect skill set for success" in the Real Estate industry.

Working in commission sales while in college, through promotions to District Manager for both Gantos, Inc. and Gap, Inc. Sharon consistently set records and won significant performance rewards, including the coveted "Top Manager of the Year" accolade...her very first year as a Store Manager.

For both firms, Sharon became a turn-around specialist, taking markets that were poor producers, converting them to top producing districts within 12 months through a careful combination of workforce selection and development, merchandise depth, levels, and presentation, and operational controls.

The retail pace was not sustainable as a parent...and a spouse and went on the " Mommy track."  During that period, she owned and operated a Personal Property Sales Brokerage firm called Vintage Accent, drawing upon her blended skills; incorporating her business acumen with her passion and knowledge about decorative arts and antiques.  

These past experiences were the perfect crucible for forming a career in Real Estate sales and related visual design services. Considerable experience in sales, training and workforce development honed communication and negotiation skills. Management aspects involving architectural and contract review, as well as project management for various private, public and NGO entities has been of considerable value as a Realtor^®.

Past History Shapes the Present

Sharon destiny was clear from kindergarten when she cheerfully sold pretend milk and eggs in her kindergarten's "store," always suggesting items that might be useful to the "shoppers." Her community interest continued and she developed a neighborhood newspaper in the 4th or 5th grade. Interest in people and community has been part of her personality since birth and she or those who know her don’t see that changing any time soon!

Community Involvement

Community commitment lead Sharon to serve two terms as both PTA President for Barnsley ES and President of the Board of Directors at the Manor Woods Swim Club.

Professional service led to work as a Leadership Development Committee Member for the Greater Capital Area Association of Realtors. More information about her community service and background are available in the online resume. 

Personal

Sharon and her spouse of 27 years are both local, growing up in Rockville and Bethesda, respectively. Upon graduation from Rockville HS, Sharon attended the University of Maryland, College Park, as a Business/Marketing and Economics major. Husband Frank Knapik graduated from B-CC HS and University of Maryland, College Park.

Their high-school age daughter, Kelly, and four-legged family member, Boscoe the dog, have called Montgomery County their home since birth.

In Summer 2006 Sharon and family made a fabulous trip to Europe, visiting four countries in less than two weeks, eagerly attending four gigs featuring Robert Plant and The Strange Sensation.

Robert Plant may be familiar to some as the former front man for Led Zeppelin. His voice is as spectacular as ever! 

The Knapik’s enjoyed meeting up with English friends, Colette and Phil Murray at the Cork, Ireland gig. Low and behold, they had the great fortune to stay in the same hotel as Plant and the band...and met them...TWICE!
